Love Out Loud has had the great honor of catalyzing partnerships and relationships with diverse people and groups across the community for over a decade.

At our fifth annual Community Transformation Luncheon, our theme was "The Creative Power of Collective Stewardship." Stewardship transcends solely funding and assets to include our lives together, the people and places we love, and an equitable and thriving future.

Our panel highlighted diverse perspectives and demonstrated how collective action can generate innovative solutions for building a stronger and more sustainable community. The panel featured three local stewards who hold this sacred trust and are an essential part of our movement toward thriving together, facilitated by a national leader and innovator.

Drew Hancock

Drew Hancock is the current Vice Chair of the Wake Forest Center for Private Business Advisory Board and a member of a Racial Equity Forum in Winston-Salem. Drew has also recently served as an Elder at Home Moravian Church. Helping build better businesses across North Carolina is the focus of Drew's work at the Wake Forest Center for Private Business. That work includes using a Team Performance Framework that accelerates performance and enables diverse teams to consistently outperform homogeneous teams.

Racial Equity Forums are small groups focused on helping Winston-Salem thrive and who believe that racial equity is foundational to building a community where everyone can thrive. Drew's commitment to action regarding racial equity was sparked by his experience with the Racial Equity Institute. Drew is also a former President and CEO of Blum Construction, and he has served on boards at The Winston-Salem Foundation, Leadership Winston-Salem, and Greater Winston-Salem.

One of Drew's most important roles is helping to make the world a better place for his granddaughters Meera (4) and Leela (1).

Dr. Reina Rodriguez

Dr. Reina Rodriguez is from El Salvador and graduated as an MD in General Medicine and General Surgeon. Before coming to the USA in 2000, she worked in her country of origin in community programs for about 3 years. She feels her mission is to simply help those in need.

Reina began her career with the Forsyth County Health Department about 5 years ago as a bilingual health educator in Maternal-Infant health. When the pandemic began, the Health Department wanted to be sure to establish rapport with the Hispanic community; thus, Reina began her role as a Hispanic Liaison – working to connect the Hispanic Population to Health Department Services. As a Hispanic liaison, she worked diligently with other organizations to create campaigns and important health messages about COVID-19; ways to prevent it, its symptoms, and the vaccines available.

Today, the health department continues to educate our community on ways to prevent various health issues and connect them to services to live long and healthy lives through Hispanic Liaisons and our partnerships with community organizations.

He is Director of System Strategy for ReThink Health and The Rippel Foundation, as well as a Visiting Scientist at the MIT Sloan School of Management. With a background that combines cultural anthropology, behavioral science, and system science, he helps organize efforts to spark large-scale institutional and cultural change.

Bobby was lead editor of the Thriving Together Springboard, is a member of the National Academies Roundtable on Population Health Improvement, co-founder of the Well Being in the Nation (WIN) Network, and an invited contributor to the National Academies’ consensus study on Racial, Ethnic, and Tribal Health Equity as well as the Surgeon General’s Report on Community Health and Economic Prosperity. Previously, Bobby spent 20 years planning and evaluating system-oriented initiatives at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where he was the principal architect of CDC’s framework for program evaluation.

Bobby is most inspired when working with passionate, loving people who are serious about becoming good ancestors for generations to come.
