Who We Are

C.L.A.S.S. (Clemmons and Lewisville Action for Student Success) was founded in 2018 by Rev. Dr. Vincent Howell after local school staff identified unmet needs among public school students. Originally formed as the Interfaith Alliance of Clemmons and Lewisville, the organization was renamed in 2022 to better reflect its mission.

Today, C.L.A.S.S. partners with 14 local churches, Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem State University, area businesses, and civic groups to support 10 schools within the WSFCS district. While our staff is small, our impact is strengthened by a broad and committed community network.

How We Work

C.L.A.S.S. works closely with the schools’ leadership and social workers to identify needs, and then locate and organize resources to meet these needs in the local churches, businesses, higher education institutions and community-at-large.

Examples of resources we have provided to Clemmons and Lewisville Schools (K-12):

●      Clothing items (pants in particular)

●      Anxiety-reducing items (i.e. fidget toys)

●      Personal hygiene items

●      School and instructional supplies

●      Snacks

●      Christmas gift financial support

Lunch Buddy Program

In 2023, C.L.A.S.S. launched the “Lunch Buddies” mentor program at Lewisville, Morgan, and Ward Elementary Schools, building on a successful model used in another city. Community volunteers are matched with a student and meet weekly during lunchtime throughout the school year to provide friendship, guidance, and encouragement.

As of Spring 2025, 27 mentors have been placed across the three schools. The program also engages university students who complete community-based volunteer hours by serving as Lunch Buddies and supporting other school-based roles.

●      Attend a C.L.A.S.S. meeting on Zoom to learn about current needs and initiatives (bimonthly)

●      Donate items currently in need

●      Help organize an item collection

●      Volunteer as a Lunch Buddy mentor or other school volunteer opportunity

●      Donate funds to support the unique role that C.L.A.S.S. plays in organizing and uniting the Clemmons and Lewisville community
