A coalition of community partners announces an evening with Dr. Bettina Love, professor, bestselling author, and a leading voice in the field of education and social justice. Her work supports teachers and parents fighting injustice caused by decades of educational reforms and explores what can be done to repair the harm to Black children. She will highlight her most recent book, Punished for Dreaming: How School Reform Harms Black Children and How We Heal.

Join us as we stand united against the systemic wrongs that have shaped our educational landscape. This event is a rallying cry for teachers, parents, and community members who are determined to fight for a system that uplifts, empowers, and heals.

Let’s continue the conversation with a community response to Dr. Bettina Love's talk. As we explore ways to apply Dr. Love’s recommendations in our own school system, what action steps can we take now? Discussion participants will include Tricia McManus, Superintendent of WS/FCS Schools; Dr. Dawn Hicks Tafari, Associate Professor of Education at Winston-Salem State University; and Dr. Dani Parker Moore, Assistant Professor of Multicultural Education at Wake Forest University. We want the conversation to include you, too – please bring your questions, ideas, and reactions to Dr. Love's talk to the conversation about where we go next as a community.
