In October 2023, FaithHealth, the Wake Forest School of Divinity, the Wake Forest School of Medicine, and Love Out Loud will convene a group of 25 global authors contributing to the Handbook on Religion and Health in Winston-Salem, NC, USA. The dates for the gathering, entitled “Baobab,” are:

  • Arrival Oct 13 (Fri evening)

  • Meeting Oct 14-16 (Sat, Sun, Mon)

  • Departure Oct 17 (Tues morning)

The Baobab tree is seen as the source of life, of creation – we expect the gathering to be exactly that. The people in this extraordinary group share many similar passions and convictions about both the urgency of our times and the need for thinking into the future, not just replicating past successes. The gathering will be a concerted, intensive, in-person opportunity to engage the authors with one other and will generate so much more than the book on its own possibly can.

Host homes are needed to provide a comfortable and hospitable respite each night after full days of interaction and dialogue on the Wake campus. Host homes would provide:

  • LODGING: Host and provide lodging each night for an individual from the evening of Fri, Oct 13 through Tues, Oct 17.

  • BREAKFAST: Provide breakfast for the individual(s) - Sat, Oct 14 - Tues, Oct 17.

  • TRANSPORTATION: Provide evening and morning local transportation Fri, Oct 13 - Tues, Oct 17, to Wake Downtown (Sat/Sun) and WFU (Mon/Tues) & back to host home. If transportation for all days is too complicated, but you are able to do everything else, please contact baobab@loveoutloudws.com

This is a wonderful opportunity for the faith community of Winston-Salem to host this amazing group of global thought leaders working at the intersection of health and faith.
