We have been privileged to sit with leaders, staff and volunteers in the well-developed, strong Freedom School program in Charlotte, NC. They have been an incredible resource and encouragement to our team. Check out their website for an overview of their program and sense of what's being accomplished across the city of Charlotte: www.freedomschoolpartners.org

Recently, the Winston-Salem Chronicle did a story on the Freedom School at the Anna Julia Cooper Institute on the Wake Forest University campus: http://www.wschronicle.com/2017/07/freedom-school  You can also learn more on the national website of the Children's Defense Fund: www.childrensdefense.org/programs/freedomschools

We are excited about the role this program can play (and has played!) in combating summer learning loss and investing in the next generation of students through this powerful and empowering approach--both the K-12 scholars who attend and the college-aged interns who form the backbone of the staff. Very exciting days ahead!!

Through a wide network of community partners, you can help this strong program possible by volunteering in Spring planning or Summer execution, by donating materials needed such as snacks and books, or by giving financially: a $100 donation covers the cost of one week of camp for each scholar!
