Communicating Effectively about Racism

  • SHARE Cooperative 603 Peters Creek Parkway Winston-Salem, NC (map)

A Workshop in Non-Violent Conversation/Action

with Rev. Willard Bass of the Institute for Dismantling Racism, and Rev. Christy Clore

In this workshop we willaddress "difficult conversations" about race.

Do you get tongue tied when a total stranger makes a disturbing remark in your presence?  Are you frustrated with your ability to communicate effectively when racism emerges in conversations with family members or co-workers?

We invite you to bring stories from your own experiences to share with the group.  Together we will work out a range of possible solutions and practice holding a respectful but firm space in response to such remarks.  What you learn here

will also be useful for engaging in difficult political conversations and other

realms of conflict.
